Gambaran Persepsi dan Pengalaman Mahasiswa Baru Keperawatan pada Fase Awal Perkuliahan

Abstract


Mahasiswa baru program studi keperawatan mengalami berbagai perubahan yang disebabkan oleh peralihan dari sekolah menengah ke perguruan tinggi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui persepsi dan pengalaman mahasiswa baru Program Studi Ilmu Keperawatan Universitas Udayana pada beberapa bulan pertama perkuliahannya. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kuantitatif yang dilakukan pada bulan Oktober 2022. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu purposive sampling dan diperoleh 33 orang mahasiswa baru sebagai responden penelitian. Desain penelitian ini menggunakan metode cross-sectional, dengan kuesioner online yang digunakan sebagai instrumen pengumpulan data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 19 responden (57,57%) berusia 18 tahun, dan sebagian besar berjenis kelamin perempuan (93,93%). Sebanyak 17 responden (51,51%) merupakan lulusan Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA), dan sisanya merupakan lulusan Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (SMK) Kesehatan. 29 responden (87,87%) menyatakan bahwa kuliah di program studi keperawatan merupakan pilihannya sendiri. Sistem pendukung yang paling dominan dimiliki oleh responden adalah teman sebaya (57,57%). Sebanyak 14 responden (42,42%) menyatakan bahwa materi ajar dan praktik di program studi keperawatan tergolong berat. 21 responden (63,63%) mengatakan bahwa jadwal perkuliahan tergolong padat, dan 9 responden (21,21%) mengatakan bahwa perkuliahan di program studi keperawatan tidak sesuai dengan ekspektasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebanyak 25 responden (75,75%) mengalami cemas dan perasaan berat untuk menghadiri perkuliahan dalam waktu 30 hari terakhir. Berdasarkan beberapa masalah tersebut, ditemukan bahwa 7 responden (21,21%) ingin pindah dari program studi keperawatan. Data-data tersebut menunjukkan bahwa kuliah di program studi keperawatan memberikan beban psikologis yang cukup besar bagi mahasiswa baru. Maka dari itu, peneliti menyarankan agar peneliti selanjutnya dapat mengembangkan intervensi yang mampu meningkatkan kenyamanan mahasiswa baru dan mampu membantu mahasiswa untuk beradaptasi dengan proses pendidikannya.
